Maya Beach Bar – Sairee Beach
It’s impossible to be bored in the evenings on Koh Tao! Take it easy and chill out at a beach bar for sunset before heading out for your evening meal. Treat yourself to a craft beer from one of the island’s specialist providers. Attend a pub quiz or bingo night. Check out some of the island’s inland quirky drinks venues. Or show off your moves on the dancefloor in one of Koh Tao’s late-night hotspots. The choice is yours!
With its picture-perfect west-facing panoramic ocean view, Sairee Beach is the go-to location for sunset on Koh Tao. Most of the open-air beach bars have happy hour specials around sunset, and you can grab anything from a fresh coconut or soft drink to beers, spirits, and cocktails. Relax and wind down after a day of diving into nature on Koh Tao, and watch the sun fade over the horizon. Some beach bars even add to the ambiance with live music acts to welcome in the evening.

Koh Tao is famous for its late-night party scene. Live bands and DJs are commonplace in the bigger venues, and there’s always a great atmosphere that makes it easy to let loose, have fun, and make new friends as you hop between bars and live it up on the dancefloor. Most of the later night venues start getting busy between 8 pm and 9 pm and stay open until between 12 midnight and 2 am. Bored of the dancefloor? Many venues have pool tables and beer pong games too.
Every night can be a Friday night on Koh Tao.
If you’re an avid sports fan, there’s no need to worry about missing your team play while you’re on holiday on Koh Tao. A handful of bars are specifically set up for sporting events with offset opening times to account for time differences and walls of big-screen TVs and projectors. So you don’t miss out on any of the action! Regular fixtures include English premiership games, international rugby, Formula 1, Moto GP, tennis, and NFL (American football).

If you’re looking for something a bit different to do, then pop into an event night. A few local bars host weekly pub quizzes, bingo games, and karaoke sessions. So even if you’re not up for a big party, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. As Koh Tao is home to an international community, most bars are also big on hosting special event nights to celebrate special days from around the world like St Patrick’s Day, Australia Day, Independence day, etc. Any excuse for a party, right?
