Learning Muay Thai on Koh Tao

There is a mix of outdoor and air-conditioned Muay Thai gyms on Koh Tao with plenty of kickboxing bags for practice and all the protective padding and gloves you’ll need to learn safely. Muay Thai is a high-impact, high-energy sport like no other. So if you’ve never tried it before, it’s usually best to take a trial session first to see if you like it. If you do, then signing up for a group class or a package of private lessons is the best way to hone your skills and advance your technique. Monthly deals are available for those on longer-term stays.

Muay Thai Fight Nights

If you don’t think getting actively involved in Muay Thai on Koh Tao is for you, but you’re still interested in watching and learning more about this historical sport, then you can attend a fight night instead. There’s a Muay Thai fight in Sairee at one of the bigger training facilities once every two to four weeks. The atmosphere on a fight night is pretty electric, so it’s almost impossible not to get swept up in the moment and cheer along with the crowd. The evening normally starts with junior and lightweight matches and moves up through the ranks to professional-level fighters as the night progresses.
